The Town of Taos and Field Institute of Taos present the 2024 Bike Rodeo along with Kit Carson Electric Cooperative, LOR Foundation, Rift Cycles, and Walmart. We will be hosting the fourth annual Bike Rodeo to promote safe riding practices for our community youth. This FREE community-wide event is for youth 17 and under and will take place on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Taos Police Department located at 400 Camino de la Placita. The goal is to provide our community with a fun, safe, and supervised bike rodeo for youth and promote cycling for fun, transportation, safe biking practices, skills, and fitness. Statistics reveal that many young people are involved in bicycle-related crashes. We need to find ways to ensure that our participants are better informed about road safety. We hope to successfully convey this type of message to the participants during the 2024 Bike Rodeo. Riding safely is fun! This event will expose the participants to the skills they need to be safe cyclists. All participants must complete required forms at the Registration Booth. All youth must be registered and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parents, please bring your children’s bikes and helmets as there will be a limited number of bikes available for youth to borrow so they can participate. Bikes and helmets will be inspected for safety. Free helmets will be provided for children needing a helmet while supplies and sizes last. Helmets are required for all riders. There will be skilled cycling activities, cycling games, and Rules of the Road lessons provided by the Field Institute of Taos coaches and instructors. A limited number of loaner bikes will be available provided by the Field Institute of Taos. Mayor Pascualito Maestas will read the Bike Month Proclamation. Drinks and snacks will be provided. We will have free drawings for twenty (20) bicycles and bike accessories for participating youth. The drawings will be at 12 PM and again at 1 PM. Youth need to participate and be present to win. 150 Free bike pumps and gift bags will be given to the youth completing the activities and visiting the booths and games. This is a FREE community event scheduled for Sunday, May 5, 2024, two shows: a matinee at 4:00 PM and an evening show at 7:30 PM at the TCA located at 133 Paseo del Pueblo Norte. Each performance is a 90-minute stage illusion show. The magician’s biography is by Mitch Harwood. Mysto the Magi is a Master Magician. He is 2-time award winner of both stage and close up sleight of hand magic. He is a rarity in the world of magic. Mysto has been coming to Taos for various events and raising money for the community for over 20 years, but he has never been to Taos with a show like this! Mysto’s REALLY BIG Magic Show is just what it says it is. Along with his lovely assistant, Alyssa; this duo presents a fun, hilarious, family show featuring big stage illusions, circus arts, and lots of fun. But it is not a kiddie show. This show features classic magical sleight of hand with doves, ropes, rings and more. It also features 5 big stage illusions. Mysto will cut Alyssa into thirds as the wacky magical Dr. Bones. He will float Alyssa in mid-air, vanish her on stage, smoosh her into a little box, and perform the fastest trick in the west. Mysto’s clean style of situational comedy is the reason why every theater in which they perform has asked them back year after year. This show promises to be a rollicking good time for young and old alike. This is a FREE family friendly show for all to attend! We are proud to bring such amazing talent to our community with a FREE entry to our local families and with two different performance times for your convenience: a matinee at 4:00 PM and an evening show at 7:30 PM. If you would like, the TCA will have concessions available for purchase. This FREE show will fill up to capacity so reserving a seat is required; all other seating in the theater will be first come, first served. The doors open 45 minutes prior to each start time. *NOTE: Reserved seats that are not claimed by show start time will be released to first come, first served. Visit //tcataos.org/onstage to reserve your FREE tickets. This show is sponsored by the True Kids 1 and the Town of Taos Community Events.
