The Town of Taos Planning Department Invites Public Comment on Affordable Housing

February 27, 2026 … The Town of Taos Planning Department is seeking public input on affordable housing at an open house on Friday, March 6, from 3:30 to 6:30 pm at Don Fernando Hall at 120 Civic Plaza Drive. The open house is part of the Town’s Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Party event.

At the open house, Town staff and consultants will gather information to help inform choices on the types of housing to be included at future phases at the Town’s development Chamisa Verde, near the Taos Youth and Family Center. A survey will be available in English and Spanish that asks questions regarding preferences for owning or renting, as well as home type and other information. 

In addition, the Town will present data that they have gathered with their consultants on housing needs and possible strategies for creating more affordable housing in the future.
