The Town of Taos Events Invites you to . . . Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Party

The Town of Taos Events proudly invites the entire community to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Party on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Don Fernando Hall, 120 Civic Plaza Drive. This free, family-friendly event is open to all ages and promises an afternoon filled with reading, laughter, creativity, and community fun in true Seussian style. Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss character, and the first six children to arrive will receive a special prize. Special appearances will include The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Families can enjoy balloon animals, cupcakes, ice cream, craft-making, face painting, games, drinks, temporary tattoos, storytime at 4:30 PM, and exciting giveaways including a drawstring backpack and book, as well as free youth T-shirts while supplies and sizes last.

ACTIVITIES, GAMES, GIVEAWAYS AND FUN COMMUNITY BOOTHS INCLUDE:

• Calvary Taos will be providing giveaways.
• Carson National Forest will be hosting a fire prevention booth featuring fire safety education, Smokey Bear materials, and book giveaways.
• Children, Youth & Families Department will be distributing information and free giveaways.
• Community Against Violence (CAV) will be providing information, crafts, and candy giveaways.
• EnSueños Y Los Angelitos Development Center will be offering outreach, sensory activities, early intervention, preschool information, and giveaways.
• Lions Club of Taos will be conducting free children’s vision screenings and hosting drawings for Amelia and the Magic Ponies books.
• MECA Therapies – Early Intervention FIT Program of NM will be distributing early intervention resources and free giveaways including cups, pens, bubbles, and more.
• Rio Grande ATP/Recovery Friendly will be hosting games with prizes and providing informational brochures.
• Rivera Family Funeral Home will be providing giveaways.
• Taos Academy Charter School Student Council and National Honor Society students will be assisting with balloon animals, face painting, and temporary tattoos.
• Taos Affordable Housing and the Town of Taos Planning Department will be conducting outreach, offering a community survey, providing giveaways, and inviting everyone to contribute their ideas on the affordable housing we need in the community and to learn about draft housing strategies.
• Taos County Adult Detention will be presenting a tactical gear demonstration explaining how and when equipment is used, along with a game and candy giveaways.
• Taos County DWI/Teen Court will be providing alcohol and drug awareness materials, giveaways with activity books, coloring books, T-shirts and Fatal Vision Goggles.  When worn, participants get a perception of an individual who has been drinking. 
• Taos Municipal Schools will be hosting a book giveaway and bookmark-making activity.
• Taos Police Department will be providing outreach and giveaways.
• Taos Public Library will be offering library card sign-ups.
• Tiwa Babies will be providing outreach, home visiting information, and a carnival game.
• Town of Taos Community Events Volunteers will be assisting with activity booths, a paper hat station, character costumes, T-shirt distribution, and refreshments.
• The Friends of the Taos Public Library will be hosting an informational booth, providing membership forms, and presenting Storytime.
• UNM-Taos HIVE will be offering outreach, brochures, information, and a coloring station.
• UNM-Taos will be providing recruitment and admissions information, program materials, and UNM swag giveaways.
• Vista Grande High School will be leading a Dr. Seuss hand-painting craft activity and providing a book giveaway to the first 240 children.
• YDI Head Start will be providing giveaways.
