22nd ANNUAL TOWN OF TAOS TOUCH-A-TRUCK

 

The Town of Taos invites you to join us in celebrating the 22nd Annual Town of Taos Touch-A-Truck!  The event will take place at the Taos Youth & Family Center located at 407 Paseo del Canon East, on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  This is a FREE family event!

 

Come climb into your favorite big rig, police car, fire truck, construction truck and many other vehicles! ALL vehicles will be available for hands-on inspection and exploration, and there will be an opportunity to talk to the operators and drivers!

 

The first 500 children will receive a free drawstring backpack filled with goodies.

 

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY INCLUDE:

 

  • Common Grounds: A Taos Teen Co-Op & Café hosting the free barbequed hot dogs and refreshments.
  • Meet Clifford the Big Red Dog sponsored by LOR Foundation.  
  • Taos Lions Club providing Tio Vivo Flying Jenny Carousel.
  • Tri-State CareFlight providing a helicopter (provided there are no emergencies).
  • Taos County DWI/Teen Court providing Golf Cart Obstacle Course.
  • Vitalant providing a blood drive from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

 

ADDITIONAL FREE ACTIVITIES, GAMES AND FUN BOOTHS INCLUDE:

 

·         Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region providing a general recruitment and informational booth.

·         Carson National Forest providing Smokey the bear give-a-ways.  

·         Community Volunteers staffing create your own “Tart Art” activity you can eat, an Emergency Rescue and a Magical Mermaid jumbo floor puzzle, tic tac toe game, cornhole, Jenga, connect four, Sorry board game, photo backdrop and snow cones.  The ice for the snow cones is donated by Taos Ice LLC.

·         Harwood Museum distributing information, activities, carnival games and give-a-ways.   

·         Lewis Vending providing billiards for the day.

·         LULAC Council 78 providing popcorn give-a-ways.

·         Millicent Rogers Museum distributing information, providing free books for kids (one per family while supplies last), literacy activities, and give-a-ways.

·         NCRTD Blue Bus distributing information, activities, carnival games and give-a-ways.

·         New Beginnings Taos providing a carnival game and give-a-ways.

·         NM Workforce Connection providing employment information.

·         Paso a Paso distributing information and give-a-ways.

·         Robert Medina & Sons providing an activity sand dig.

·         Snowboarders & Skiers for Christ International, Taos Chapter providing informational booth, give-a-ways, and videos playing snowboarding and skiing.  

·         Skating Club of Taos distributing information and give-a-ways.

·         Taos Academy Charter School providing literacy activities using truck stories, poetry and art.   

·         Taos County Crime Stoppers providing information and signage.  

·         Taos County DWI/Teen Court providing alcohol and drug awareness, give-a-ways and Fatal Vision Goggles (when worn, the participants get a perception of an individual that has been drinking).  

·         Taos Dance Booster staffing temporary tattoos, the goodie bags, Clifford the Big Red Dog and his assistant.   

·         Taos Fire Department providing Fire Safety Training Trailer.

·         Taos Police Department providing give-a-ways. 

·         Taos Park and Recreation Advisory Board providing outreach and give-a-ways.

·         Taos Ski Valley providing outreach, information, and activities with prizes.

·         Young Living Essential Oils proving an information booth.
